PHILOSOPHY OF INTERPRETING

Interpreting is a very people-centered profession. It is paramount to remember that the heart of what we do is the people for whom we do it. As an interpreter, I strive to be cognizant and mindful of the impact my work has on others – on consumers, colleagues, and the Deaf community. As an interpreter, I seek to be accepting of all people, respectful of their personhood, and mindful of every person’s right to make their own decisions and choices. My goal is to complete jobs with professionalism, respect, linguistic competence, and dignity for all those involved.
